Practice of psychotherapy, Rye New York
June 9, 2014
Just returned from a New England Educational Institute conference in Galway Ireland presented by Dr. Thomas Moore on Psychotherapy, Spirituality & the Soul.
July 22, 2014
In June I taught two workshops on facilitating groups at a local not-for-profit agency.
This month I completed the group training I began in June at a local non-profit agency,
With a group of forty other walkers, I participated in the Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Manhattanville College.
Along with other members of the Writers' Festival Planning Committee, I am putting the finishing touches on the November 8 Writers' Festival at the Roe Jan Community Library.
On November 8, 2014, I and other members of the Writers' Festival Committee presented the First Writers' Festival entitled The Write Stuff at Roe Jan Community Library. There were six workshops, a keynote address and a panel on publishing. With 37 participants and eight presenters, the day was a huge success.
Today I registered for the 2015 Psychotherapy Networker Symposium in Washington, DC in March. This annual event has hundreds of workshops and the presenters represent the top Psychotherapists in the field.
This month I attended the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium in Washington, DC where thousands of psychotherapists gather each spring for hundreds of workshops on various aspects of the field. Although spring was late this year and we were not greeted by the usual cherry blossoms, the weekend was a huge success. I heard John Kabot Zinn deliver a keynote address on mindfulness and heard a luncheon speech by Richard Schwartz on Internal Family Systems. I spent a day with John and Julie Gottman, who have spent decades researching, studying and working with couples. On the final day, I listened to a panel of experts in the field of brain science, including Daniel Siegel and Bessel van der Kolk. An incredible learning experience.
This month I went to a writers' retreat, Women Reading Aloud. It took place in Sea Girt, New Jersey on the beautiful Jersey shore. It was an intense and moving weekend of writing, which is an amazing experience when you are writing in the presence of others. The energy in the group carried the writing and the bonding to a new level.
I again had the opportunity to consult with a non-profit clinical day program on group dynamics.
Writing - A Pathway to Healing July 16 - 7-9:00pm with Regina Colangelo, LCSW
The Barbara E. Giordano Women’s Health & Education Foundation

Throughout one's life, we encounter difficulties at every level of our being. Those troubling times can either be a stop sign, a dead end, a challenge or a hurdle to overcome and lead us to a better place. By tapping into our creative selves, we can work through the most demanding aspects of life. Through discussion, visualization and writing exercises, this workshop will explore writing as a tool in the service of healing physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Regina Colangelo has been a Social Work Psychotherapist in Westchester County for over thirty-five years and has a full-time Private Practice in Rye, New York. Throughout her career, she has facilitated numerous workshops on a variety of topics in her field.
Regina began writing in a memoir class at the Hudson Valley Writers' Center in Sleepy Hollow, New York. She writes fiction and memoir and facilitates writers' groups, workshops and programs. In the fall of 2014 she was the Co-Chair of The Write Stuff, a highly successful Writers' Festival in Columbia County.
Blending her experience as a Psychotherapist and her love of writing, Regina has developed workshops that help people tap into their creativity and use writing as a tool for healing.
